Folderly AI adds MCP: bring your email campaigns into Claude and ChatGPT

FRFolderly ResearchDeliverability and cold email strategy teamPublished September 8, 20267 min read

Bring selected campaign briefs, email review, and saved drafts into your AI assistant. Explore the Folderly AI MCP pilot and connection steps for Claude and ChatGPT.

Folderly AI now has an MCP server for working with email campaigns from an AI assistant. It connects the conversation where you develop an idea with the place where you keep your brief, review your copy, and save your campaign.

Availability, September 8, 2026: the server is deployed and the connection is in pilot preparation. Account authorization and a complete connection in each assistant still need verification. The instructions below are for the pilot once access is enabled. Folderly AI is not yet listed in either public directory.

MCP means Model Context Protocol. For a sales or marketing team, its practical purpose is simple: let your assistant use specific Folderly AI tools with your permission. You can work from a saved offer and approved proof, ask for a review, and keep the resulting draft in your account.

What can you do with Folderly AI in an assistant?

The connection supports six useful actions:

  • Find a campaign. Ask for your saved campaign summaries, then choose the one you want to work on.
  • Open its context. Retrieve the selected campaign's brief and current draft, including the audience, voice, and proof you supplied.
  • Review an email. Get content findings for a draft you wrote or prepared with your assistant.
  • Generate one email. Explicitly ask Folderly AI to produce a subject and body using its generation workflow.
  • Save useful work. Create a campaign draft or save a new version of an existing campaign.
  • Check your allowance. Ask whether Folderly generation is available for your account and how much allowance remains.

That makes a request like this possible after connection:

Find my agency outreach campaign. Open the brief I choose, review this follow-up against its audience and approved proof, and show me the changes. Wait for me to approve the edits before saving a new draft.

There are two ways to create copy. Claude or ChatGPT can draft using the context you selected, then ask Folderly AI to review and save it. Alternatively, you can explicitly request Folderly AI's own single-email generation. Those are different operations with different credit behavior.

The connection does not send email, schedule outreach, or approve campaigns. A saved version is still a draft for you to review. Content checks also do not establish that a claim is true or measure whether a message will reach an inbox.

Updating a campaign replaces its current content and clears its approval. Folderly AI keeps up to ten saved versions; another save can permanently remove the oldest one. Review the proposed changes and export any older copy you need before confirming an update.

Before you connect

You need a Folderly AI account and confirmation that the MCP pilot is enabled. You also need an assistant account whose settings allow a custom connection; a company workspace may require an owner to enable it.

Use this server address when your assistant asks for the MCP URL: https://generate.folderly.com/api/mcp. The product name is Folderly AI. Its existing website address remains unchanged.

Connect through the sign-in and permission screen. Do not paste a password, API key, or access token into a chat. Choose the Folderly AI account containing the campaigns you intend to use.

Reviewing and saving do not consume Folderly generation credits. At the time of writing, an explicit Folderly single-email generation costs 5 credits and requires an account with developer API access. A connected account alone does not grant that entitlement. Ask the assistant to check your allowance before generation; your assistant's own usage terms still apply.

Selected campaign content is returned to the assistant when its tools retrieve it. The connection is therefore appropriate for information you intend to share with that assistant. Consult the Folderly AI privacy information and your assistant account's data settings before using confidential client material.

Connect Folderly AI to Claude

Once pilot access is enabled:

  1. Open Claude and go to Customize → Connectors.
  2. Select + → Add custom connector.
  3. Enter Folderly AI and the server address above.
  4. Add the connector, then choose Connect and complete the Folderly AI sign-in and permission flow.
  5. Enable the connector for your conversation from the + menu and Connectors.

In a Team or Enterprise workspace, an owner first adds the connector under Organization settings → Connectors. Members then connect their own accounts. Follow Claude's current custom connector instructions if your interface differs.

Start with a small request:

Show my saved campaign summaries. Do not open full campaign content or change anything yet.

Choose the campaign by name and identifier before requesting its full brief. If several campaigns have similar names, ask for clarification instead of letting the assistant guess.

Connect Folderly AI to ChatGPT

The pilot uses a custom MCP connection. Once Folderly AI has completed public directory review and publication, installation will have its own verified listing link.

For the pilot:

  1. Open Settings → Security and login and enable Developer mode, if your account and workspace permit it.
  2. Open ChatGPT Plugins and select the + button.
  3. Name the connection Folderly AI and enter the server address under Connection.
  4. Create the connection, complete the account authorization, and inspect the discovered tools.
  5. Start a conversation and add the connection from the tools menu.

These steps follow OpenAI's current connection guide. If developer mode or the connection controls are unavailable, ask your workspace owner about access.

A good first task is a review with no generation charge:

Review this email with Folderly AI. Explain the content findings, keep my supplied facts unchanged, and suggest edits. Do not generate a new email or save anything yet.

Turn the first connection into a useful campaign

Start with a real brief: who you are writing to, what you offer, the next step you want, and evidence you are comfortable using. If evidence is missing, ask the assistant to flag the gap. An invented customer result should never become part of your campaign.

Then work through a short sequence:

  1. Choose the context. Select an existing campaign or provide a new brief. Ask the assistant to repeat the audience and offer so you can catch misunderstandings.
  2. Choose how to draft. Ask your assistant to write from that context, or explicitly request Folderly generation after checking the allowance and cost.
  3. Review the copy. Ask what changed and why. Check the subject, claims, tone, and call to action yourself.
  4. Save when ready. Tell the assistant which campaign to update, or ask it to create a new campaign draft.
  5. Reopen the work. Confirm the saved subject and body in your Folderly AI workspace before exporting or using another system to send it.

For example:

Use the brief we just reviewed. Check my Folderly AI allowance, then use Folderly AI to generate one email if I am eligible. Show the subject and body. Ask me before saving it as a new campaign draft.

If a generation times out, ask the assistant to recover the same operation rather than start another generation. If saving reports that the campaign changed elsewhere, reload the current version and compare the edits before trying again.

If connection fails before you see the tools, check the URL, account, workspace permissions, and pilot availability. Repeating sign-in will not fix authorization that has not yet been enabled by Folderly AI.

Keep the first session focused on one reviewed draft you can reopen. Check the Folderly AI connection page for current pilot availability and setup information.
